Custom Portal Ringtones MK. II

Glados 3

A few years ago, I wrote a tutorial on how to make your own custom GLaDOS style ringtones.  With Portal 2 now upon us, I thought there might be some new test subjects that would be interested in this info. I’ve included the MP3s that I made in the post as well, just to give you an idea of what the results sound like.

Here’s the MP3 for text message and email notification. Enjoy!

Favourites: Levis 510s

Submitted by on May 12, 2010 Favourites

As yes, the age old argument of the best pair of jeans. Well, I pick my jeans off the Red Tag rack. Levis 510s are the brands “super skinny”, but don’t let that fool you, these aren’t the painted on tightness of jeans you will find with other brands, they do have some room to them.

Neither I nor Adam are purveyors of washing your jeans unnecessarily. So what we’ve found over here after rigorous testing in the CONVOKE labratories is that a nicely well worn in pair of 510s will fit you like a brand new or just washed 511s, which is right in that sweet spot for jeans. I pretty much wear these jeans every day (about 95%) and they’re still going strong after over 8 months of abuse, showing the quality that your plain old Levis have, and at $75 they really are a steal.

Go grab yourself a pair, throw on a white T, and… strut. It’s just that easy.

Mo Logo Stacked LargeOkay, so I’m not always the most socially conscientious person in the world, but when I found out how I could get behind a good cause like this, I decided to give it a go. So here’s the deets, Movember (portmanteau of Mustache and November) is a worldwide month long awareness campaign for prostate cancer. You can donate, join the CONVOKE team, or get more information from my donation profile. Please help out a worthwhile cause, and I promise to not disappoint.

The 1998 Problem

Submitted by on October 2, 2009 Projects

OK, a little different from our normal posts but I think you’ll enjoy. From what I understand this problem arose in the year 1998 and was posed as a mathematical problem for a student’s homework. This is how it works, by taking 1998 and only adding SYMBOLS to the numbers (as shown above) you must make every number from 1 to 100. The image above should allow you to understand what things you are allowed to do, but feel free to sound off in the comments if you’re confused. If you make it I expect feedback as I’m stumped on some.

(Apparently 0.9 repeating is defined as 1, or so I’m told)

lola_rogers_logo_rgbThe London Ontario Live Arts Festival starts it’s fourth annual venture this year. Expanding their offering again, this festival is comprised of both free and paid venues of visual and musical artists. Downtown will be bustling with the likes of akron/family, nomo, and my favorite of the year (and his 2nd performance at LOLA) final fantasy (aka Owen Pallett).

If you’re in the London or surrounding area this weekend I fully advise you to make a stop at Victoria Park for some excellent performances. Or check out the website for a full link to all the venues and a schedule of the event.

After a overly long hiatus, for various reasons, we’ll be (make that a royal we, I can’t make promises for others) back posting on a regular basis. I’ve managed to place myself back in school for at least another year so I’ll have the time to keep you up to date on the things we do.

Remember to add our RSS feed or follow us @convoke to keep up to date.

Favourites: The Slim Wallet

slim wallet

Every guy knows your wallet can say a lot about you. Here at CONVOKE we’ve jumped on the slim wallet bandwagon. The colloquial “George Costanza” wallet had its day, and now with plastic beating paper for purchases, the card holder is in. Like the Prada Saffiano pictured above (although expensive at $155 USD) these modern card holder style wallets have just enough space for a few cards and a little cash, which is perfect for day to day use. The other benefit, other than style, is the health benefits of not sitting on a lean all day long, which could be stressful for your body, that’s what is important to get the right supplements for stress from sites like
