"Better Red than Dead"

by Dave

cccpThose that know me, know I have a sweet spot for the homeland Soviet Union, so these socks caught my eye at first glance. Woven on the bottom is the saying “Better Red than Dead” and they’re adorned with the iconic hammer and sickle.

That’s a lot of communism for only $9.95.

It's Up To You

by Leah

postcards

New York, New York.  It’s a helluva town.

We like New York.

We like to send postcards.

And when we are in new york city, these are the only ones sent: 3D paper art postcards ($6 ea),  depicting a typical nyc cab, bagel and lox, empire states building and more yorker symbolism.

Whether your soundtrack is Cat Power or Old Blue Eyes:

“If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere.” It being the cards, of course.

DAN FUNDERBURGH

by Adam

funderburgh

I think there’s a bit of a stigma associated with patterns; if I ask you to think of wallpaper, you’ll probably imagine some hideous beige and rose floral number straight out of grandma’s kitchen.  One man is going to singlehandedly change this.

Dan Funderburgh‘s work is so sweet it borders on criminal.  From afar it looks convincingly classic, but take a closer look and you’ll find meat cleavers, rats, fire hydrants, and pills juxtaposed with vintage flourishes.

He’s recently expanded into less conventional mediums, like etched foamcore and laser cut paper (!!!) which totally complements the mind-blowing intricacy of his work.  Dan’s just launched a new website, and it looks like he’ll be updating more frequently, so check it out.

OCARINA OF RHYME

by Adam

ocarinaJust when you thought you were sick of mashups, someone comes along and drops a bomb like this.  Team Teamwork have laid down vocal tracks from Dre, Jay-Z, Aesop Rock, and others on top of mixed and mashed versions of familiar Hyrulian anthems.

The result is tighter than a bowstring and harder than Goron skin.

Pop-Cultural Charts

by Dave

pop-chartDan Meth has started a series to make charts out of pop cultural references. So far he’s got a chart that shows his impressions of movie trilogies and another that shows what side of the sound-stage the living room and kitchen are (pictured). Hopefully there will be more to come.

Once you see this you won’t be able to stop thinking about the relationship of the two when watching TV… the illusion has been broken beyond repair.

Optoma Pico Pocket DLP Projector

I certainly wasn’t aware ish like this even existed.

Imagine you’re stuck waiting at the airport waiting for your flight. You crack out your DS or iphone to pass the time. Previously, you could only enjoy your device discretely, without projecting your entertainment onto a huge flat surface 60′ away for every stranger in the terminal to admire whether they want to or not. Now, you have options.

$600 options. You’re welcome.
